Many symphony orchestra concert attendees are over the age of 65, often because their public school education included a music class. And while this didn't convince every student that classical music was their favorite, they at least had a basic understanding of music, instruments and how musical sound enriched their lives. Today, music education is not as common in the public schools and if a child encounters and is attracted to studying an instrument, it's up to their parents to foster this desire. The Chandler Symphony is proud of their annual Youth Competition, in which students in grades 7-12 audition to win a scholarship prize and the opportunity to perform with the CSO. Donations like yours will make this competition continue to attract talented young musicians and allow us to make sure that our love for music lives on through these amazing students.
